MIL promotes COO, Marisa Daley, to President and Joel Melville to CAO
Tenured employees take elevated leadership roles at family-owned organization
Bowie, Md.—Jan. 22, 2023 – The MIL Corporation (MIL), a mid-sized federal contractor, recently announced the promotion of its Chief Operating Officer (COO) Marisa Daley to President, effective Jan. 19, 2024. The firm’s founder and outgoing President, Maurice I. Long, Jr., will stay with the organization as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Daley will continue to lead MIL’s Federal Civilian Business Unit, Corporate Business Development team, Proposals & Marketing department, and Recruiting department, while expanding her oversight to include the Defense Business Unit and the Human Resources teams.
“As Marisa assumes the role of company president, I’m certain she will continue to drive all areas of growth and expansion for the firm,” said Long. “This promotion reflects not only Marisa’s past accomplishments but also my confidence in her ability to lead MIL to new heights, seamlessly carrying forward the legacy established under my leadership. As her father, I am extremely proud of her and am thrilled to keep the business in the family.”
Daley joined the company in 2014, having previously served as president and founder of HPT Advisory Services, an economically disadvantaged woman-owned-small-business. Daley’s background also includes seven years leading Atlanta-based federal contracts for PwC, as well as senior-level management positions at BearingPoint and KPMG. Daley holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola University, Maryland and obtained her Program Management Professional certification from the Program Management Institute.
As President, Daley has her sights set on significant and near-term corporate milestones of achieving $200 million in revenue and surpassing 900 employees.
“As I step into the role of MIL President, I am truly honored and excited for the opportunities ahead,” said Daley. “I am ever-grateful for the trust and confidence placed in me by the entire MIL team. Building upon the foundation established under my father’s leadership, I am committed to driving growth and expansion across all facets of our operations. MIL has a rich legacy, and I am eager to contribute to its ongoing success.”
Along with Daley’s elevation, Long also announced the promotion of Joel Melville to Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). In this role, Melville will ensure corporate operations have the resources, processes, and procedures in place to support the company’s anticipated growth. In addition to managing security, information technology, and human resources operations, Melville also assumes oversight of corporate finance, contracts, and pricing departments.
Stepping up from his prior role of Vice President of Administration, Melville brings over 16 years of financial industry experience, including over a decade of service at MIL. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Pace University and earned his MBA from Bowie State University.
“Joel’s ability to navigate challenges and seize opportunities has been instrumental in our achievements over the years and I know he will continue to improve on operational efficiencies in this new role, said Long. “Together, with our dedicated team, we are poised for continued success and growth at MIL.”
