MIL COO, Ed Greer Receives Prestigious International Test & Evaluation Association Award
Selected for his dedication to the ITEA community, Greer receives highest award given by the association
BOWIE, Md.—Dec. 10, 2018—The MIL Corporation (MIL) is pleased announce that Ed Greer, MIL Defense Business Unit COO, is the recipient of the International Test & Evaluation Association’s (ITEA) 2018 Allen R. Matthews Award. The Allen R. Matthews Award is the highest award bestowed by ITEA.

This prestigious award is named after Dr. Allen R. Matthews, founder and first president of ITEA, a not-for-profit education organization that focuses on advancing the exchange of technical, programmatic, and acquisition information among the test and evaluation community. Each year, the award is presented to an individual for a lasting, significant contribution to the field of test and evaluation (T&E), such as the cumulative effect of a distinguished career.
“It should come as no surprise that Ed is honored with such a prestigious award,” stated MIL President and CE0 Maurice I. Long, Jr. “His long-standing professional career has always supported DT&E and DoD efforts, notably shaping DT&E policy and guiding the acquisition of major DoD weapon systems. His commitment to this industry makes him an excellent choice for this award.”
Previously a president of the Southern Maryland Chapter of the International Test and Evaluation Association (ITEA), Greer is now an active member of the ITEA National Board of Directors. Greer holds 34 years of government career experience, culminating as the former Deputy Assistant Secretary for Development, Test, and Evaluation (DTE) at the Department of Defense (DoD). In these roles, Greer has proven himself as an advocate for the development of test processes and instrumentation modernization for over 40 years.
To qualify for the Allen R. Matthews Award, recipients must be a member of ITEA. Each individual is evaluated on the length of time over which contributions have been made, and the impact of those contributions to the T&E community, as well as services performed that enhance and strengthen the profession. Additionally, significant achievements that benefited a professional technical association as a result of an office held or committee involvement are considered.
This recognition will be Greer’s second major industry award. In 2013, he was the recipient of The National Defense Industrial Association’s (NDIA) Walter W. Hollis Award for Lifetime Achievement in Defense Test and Evaluation.
