The MIL Corporation Renews CMMI Level 2 and Level 3 Maturity Ratings
Appraisal ratings advance Software Development and Support Services Organizational Unit
Bowie, Md.—March 06, 2017— The MIL Corporation (MIL) is pleased to announce that it has renewed both its Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for Development Level 3 Maturity rating, as well as a CMMI for Services Level 2 Maturity. The original appraisal was completed in 2014; both were completed by ProcessWorks, Inc.
Internationally recognized, CMMI is considered the foremost standard in providing a framework for creating and improving system development, integration and service delivery processes. The program was developed by Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI) in order to define practices that organizations may use to achieve more efficient and effective processes.
“We are very proud to say that this is our fourth appraisal over the course of nearly a decade,” said Senior Vice President John Degni. “Each time, it brings a tremendous sense of value and accomplishment to our team. The hard work that is put into this appraisal process undoubtedly turns into better results and process solutions for our clients’ software development and support needs.”
To obtain the CMMI Maturity Level ratings, MIL was evaluated using the Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI). This method requires the review of project work products and documented processes, as well as interviews with Process Action Team (PAT) leads, quality assurance and configuration management personnel and organization and project practitioners.
“Having clearly defined processes in these key service areas demonstrates MIL’s commitment to providing superior service to its clients,” said COO Marisa Daley. “Our Charleston team has done an outstanding job, and a great service to MIL, in being recognized by the CMMI institute.”
MIL’s SCAMPI in Feb. 2017 was the culmination of a rigorous multiyear course of continuous process improvement and preparation. These tasks were performed by the company’s CMMI Workgroup, which consists of PAT Leads and Senior Management within the Systems Development and Infrastructure Services Business Unit. The group met periodically to ensure the organization’s software development projects and services met or exceeded all CMMI requirements for a successful assessment.
