MIL Computer Specialist Bryan Smith obtains competitive Oracle Certified Professional title
BOWIE, Md.—September 14, 2011— On Aug. 29, 2011, MIL Computer Specialist Bryan Smith successfully passed the Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certification (DBA) process to obtain the competitive title of Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
The OCP credential is a benchmark of professional skill and technical expertise required to manage, develop, or implement enterprise-wide databases, middleware, or applications.
“The certification requirement was very challenging,” said Smith. “It took four months of solid studying and three exams before I reached my goal. Utilizing MIL’s online education program, MILTON, was helpful as I got to use TestPrep modules for practice prior to sitting for my exams.”
Oracle’s current OCP certificate is recognized as one of the most challenging and comprehensive credentials in the database domain. The successful completion of DBA certification combines training, experience and testing to ensure that mid-to-senior level Oracle database administrators have a strong foundation and expertise in the industry’s most advanced database management system.
When asked what the most significant and or challenging moment in the certification process was, Smith proudly announced that his second son, Daniel Aidan Smith, was born during the series of exams.
“I remember working through the second set of material, SQL Fundamentals, in the hospital room on the second day after his birth, said Smith. “Some folks will think that’s insane, but I took it as a sign that if I was willing to integrate the material that fully into my life then I must be on the right track.”
Smith will utilize his expert knowledge and DBA credential to help fulfill and develop specific needs at the MIL Financial Service Center.
“I am so happy and grateful to MIL for allowing me the opportunity to pursue these endeavors,” said Smith. “I have worked for several types of organizations, and I can tell you that the level of support, opportunity, and encouragement I have received from MIL is absolutely unmatched from anything else I have experienced.”
