Team MIL CARES for the CURE to participate in the 2012 Breast Cancer fundraiser in Washington D.C.
BOWIE, Md.—May 25, 2012—The MIL Corporation’s (MIL) MIL CARES initiative has taken on a new challenge this year: the Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure Global event in support of the fight against Breast Cancer. Susan G. Komen™ is recognized as the world’s largest breast cancer organization and the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer with more than $1.9 billion invested to date.
MIL Assistant Vice President, Jeff Suhanick has participated in the event for several years and after speaking with several other employees, he realized making it a company effort would be a great move. Suhanick suggested the idea to the MIL Service Center and MIL CARES for the CURE team was formed.
“The event is so much fun and supports such an amazing cause,” said Suhanick. “I’m really looking forward to this year’s event and couldn’t be happier that we are making it part of MIL CARES this time around.”
MIL CARES (Celebrates, Acknowledges, Responds, Energizes, and Strengthens) is the MIL initiative that is tasked with organizing MIL involvement in community service efforts throughout the year. The collective, supported by employees across locations, is rooted in knowing the importance of serving communities and charities in areas where we live and work.
Currently, Team MIL CARES for the CURE has a little over 20 members who are set to walk on Saturday, June 2. Runners or walkers are welcome to sign up for the race, which will begin at the Washington Monument in Washington, DC at 8:00 a.m. If you would like to participate or donate to the team, please visit our team page, here.
