MIL Supports Southern Maryland Community Through Generous Donations
Local government contractor donates $10K to Leadership Southern Maryland and MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital
Bowie, Md.—Sept. 06, 2022— The MIL Corporation (MIL) proudly announces its continued partnership with Leadership Southern Maryland (LSM) and support of Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital. As a Gold Sponsor, MIL presented LSM with a $10,000 check and donated another $10,000 to Medstar St. Mary’s in support of the important work it does within the community. Both donations were made in August 2022.
LSM provides a nine-month, tuition-based executive program designed to educate and inspire a diverse group of current and emerging leaders to create collaborations and partnerships to impact the community needs of Southern Maryland. Over the years, MIL has produced several LSM graduates, including Sr. Vice President, Harvil Jenkins. Additionally, the organization has supported its Emerging Leaders Program, proudly employing graduates like Esha Bristol, a project manager at MIL.
“LSM has provided me access to local government and business leaders,“ Jenkins said. “New opportunities are now available to me from a personal and business perspective. Before LSM, I thought some of these opportunities and connections were out of my reach. I am so grateful to this organization and proud that MIL supports such an important initiative where we live and work.”
Founded in 1912, MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital is a full-service community hospital that upholds its tradition of caring for the Southern Maryland community by continuously promoting, maintaining, and improving health.
“Our community is everything – and supporting our local healthcare system brings great benefit to our workforce, our customers, and the community where we live and work.” said MIL Executive Vice President Tom Clark.” MedStar’s commitment to patient-first and community health and education is inspiring, and MIL takes great pride in supporting such a wonderful organization.”
Donations made to local organizations are done so through MIL’s community service program, MIL CARES (Celebrates, Acknowledges, Responds, Energizes, and Strengthens). It shows its support through charities and events such as food drives, coat drives, Toys for Tots, collecting funds for disaster relief efforts, volunteering at Habitat for Humanity, or supporting our soldiers and Veterans.
“MIL, a company that demonstrably values people, community, relationships, and collaboration, has long been an exceptional partner in LSM’s work,” LSM Executive Director Sybol Anderson said. “Our success absolutely depends on support such as theirs. We are extremely grateful for it.”
