MIL VP Honored with AFERM Volunteer of the Year Award
Paul Marshall awarded for outstanding service at 5th Annual Enterprise Risk Management Awards
BOWIE, Md.—Dec. 10, 2019—The MIL Corporation (MIL) is proud to announce Paul Marshall, Corporate Business Development Vice President, was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award by the Association for Federal Enterprise Risk Management (AFERM). The honor was given at the association’s 5th Annual Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Awards and named two recipients in this category.
The AFERM ERM Volunteer of the Year award honors financial management professionals operating in the federal landscape who exhibit exceptional commitment to the field of ERM through their service to AFERM, which operates as a 100% volunteer-run organization.

Marshall’s award acknowledged his role in creating and hosting AFERM’s Risk Chats podcast. The podcast is published on AFERM’s website and highlights interviews with ERM leaders throughout the government, industry, and academia. The podcast has published over 20 episodes in just under two years and continues to receive enthusiastic and positive feedback from the Federal ERM community.
“I am happy that the podcast has taken off and that so many people find the interviews to be interesting, insightful, and informative,” said Marshall. “I truly appreciate AFERM awarding me this honor and I’m excited to continue to interview ERM leaders, share best practices, and inspire others to build successful ERM programs.”
With over 20 years of experience in the federal financial community, Marshall—a CPA, CIA, CICA, CGFM and PMP, works to expand MIL’s financial services into new agencies while maintaining stability of key federal clients. His areas of expertise include ERM, financial systems services, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA). In addition to hosting AFERM’s “Risk Chats,” Marshall is also the host of AGA’s “Accountability Talks” podcast.
ERM Awardees are given for four categories: Leader of the Year, Professional of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and ERM Hall of Fame. Aside from the Hall of Fame Award, which evaluates the winner’s entire career, the other categories are evaluated based on the recipient’s accomplishments over the course of the year. The awards were presented during the 2019 Annual AFERM ERM Summit on Oct. 29, 2019.
