High Deductible Health

A high-deductible insurance plan has a higher deductible than a traditional insurance plan. The monthly premium is usually lower, but you pay more health care costs yourself before the insurance company starts to pay its share. Our HDHP is paired with a Health Savings Account (HSA), allowing you to pay for certain medical expenses with money free from federal taxes.

Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)

This plan offers a network of healthcare providers you can use for your medical care. These providers have agreed to provide care to the plan members at a certain rate.

Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO)

This type of health plan offers a local network of doctors and hospitals for you to choose from. It is usually more pocket-friendly than an PPO plan.

High Option Plan

A nationwide Fee-for-Service plan with a preferred provider organization (PPO).

Our Guardian Dental PPO features a network of over 50,300 provider locations. You have access to both in-network and out-of-network dental providers across the country when you choose either the High Option Plan or the Low Option Plan. Employees share a portion of the premium costs which are deducted via bi-weekly pre-tax deductions.

Guardian vision benefits can be access through widely accepted plans: the VSP Signature Network or the Davis Vision Network. Employees share a portion of the premium costs which are deducted via bi-weekly pre-tax deductions.

Our Flexible Spending Accounts give our employees the opportunity to budget for eligible healthcare and dependent care expenses by withholding a small amount from each paycheck that allows them to cover their out-of-pocket expenses before taxes.

Medical FSA

Monies deposited into this account can be used to pay for eligible health care expenses for yourself, your spouse, and dependents that you claim on your federal tax return, even if they are not covered under MIL’s sponsored health plans.

Dependent Care FSA

For eligible dependent care expenses, employees can elect up to $5,000 per year if your status is “married filing jointly” or “single head of household”. If your filing status is “married filing separately” you may elect up to $2,500 per year.

With the MIL Commuter Benefits Program, paying for your commute can be more cost-effective and convenient. Available to our Washington, DC employees, a Commuter Benefits Account provides tax-exempt funds through a simple paycheck deduction that employees can use to pay for eligible transit and parking services. MIL also contributes an additional $120 per month to help offset those expenses.

MIL’s Employee Computer Purchase Program benefit is available to all employees who have completed six months of employment to help employees purchase new personal use computers. Through this program, MIL helps to finance a computer’s purchase price by using payroll deductions over 13 biweekly paychecks in equal installments. Once an employee has completed the loan repayment, they must wait another 12 months from that payoff date to use the program again.

MIL offers an 18% employee discount for Verizon customers.

MIL provides a $50,000 benefit for Life and AD&D coverage at no cost to our employees as well as Long-Term Disability to assist in case of a long-term injury or illness.

Employees can purchase Supplemental Life Insurance in increments of $10,000, with a minimum of $20,000, and a maximum coverage of $500,000. You may also elect additional AD&D coverage in the amount equal to your Life Insurance Policy. Employees can also purchase Supplemental Life Insurance for their spouse for 50% of their Employee Supplemental Life Insurance policy. Employees also have the choice to elect supplemental life coverage for each child.

Employees can elect Short-Term Disability Insurance to assist them in cases of injuries or illnesses lasting less that 25 weeks.

Provided by MIL through UNUM, employees can enroll in Accident Insurance,Critical Illness Insurance, and Hospital Indemnity.

Accident Insurance

Accident Insurance can pay a set benefit amount based on the type of injury an employee has and the type of treatment needed. It covers both accidents that occur on the job and off the job.

Critical Illness Insurance

If an employee is diagnosed with an illness that is covered by the insurance, they can receive a lump sum benefit payment that can be used however the employee wants.

Hospital Indemnity

If an employee is hospitalized, this insurance plan will provide the employee with a cash benefit payment to be used however the employee sees fit.

MIL has partnered with LA Fitness and World Gym to offer our employees a discounted rate on monthly membership fees. For 2022, any employee who participates in the HDHP w/ HSA, will receive an additional $100 in their HSA account at the end of the quarter with proof of membership.

Mental health is essential to a person’s overall health. To support our workers, MIL joined the fight for robust mental health by engaging Uprise, a confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) program that helps employees face life challenges.

Uprise provides guidance for personal issues and information about other concerns that can affect your life. It offers help with education, dependent care and care giving, legal and financial matters, lifestyle and fitness management, among others.

Through our EAP, MIL employees receive unlimited free telephonic consultation with an EAP counselor available 24/7, referrals to local counselors (up to three sessions free of charge), and access to a state-of-the-art website featuring over 3,400 helpful articles and topics like wellness, training courses, and a legal and financial center.

MILTON

Recognizing that knowledge and skills development must be dynamic to keep pace with technology, we established MIL Training Online (MILTON), our free web-based training program, to deliver professional development courses in a multitude of subjects on demand. All MIL team members enjoy unfettered access to this free training to build and enhance technical and managerial skills and nurture professional growth.

MILTON classes offer academic rigor with many courses awarding certifications, CPE, CEU, and college credits, while at the same time accommodating a full-time professional’s demanding schedule. Employees can choose any course of study from among the 3,600+ business, IT, and desktop courses.

Tuition Reimbursement

MIL, at its discretion, will reimburse regular full-time employees for educational courses relating to their professional area. Courses must be approved in advance. Reimbursement will be equal to 80% of the cost including tuition, books, and lab fees, up to the following maximum amounts per calendar year:
Graduate Level Courses: $4,000
Undergraduate Courses: $4,000

Professional Certifications, Training, Tests, & Examinations: MIL, at its discretion, will reimburse regular full-time employees for tests and examinations leading to industry standard certification in their professional area.

A $3,000 bonus is offered to eligible employees for recommending candidates who are hired to fill full‐time regular positions.
