Why did you decide to join MIL?

My husband and I relocated to MD from TN and I had heard wonderful things about MIL as a local company. I was very interested in joining MIL and started as the receptionist.

What are you working on now?

I am the manager of the financial and administrative team.  I also manage one of the prime contracts for the C4IS division.  My responsibilities include monitoring the contract ceiling and deliverables, working closely with our project managers, and ensuring that everything runs smoothly with the contract. In terms of the nuts and bolts of my job, it involves spreadsheets and numbers and a lot of problem solving, which I enjoy!

Why do you enjoy working at MIL?

I can say with 100% honesty that I enjoy the people that I work with and the customers that we support.  I feel like this is a family-type environment!  I also like that MIL is in a constant state of growth.  I like learning new things and taking on new responsibilities.  I love being asked for my or my team’s participation in expanding efforts.

What is the best piece of career advice you can offer someone in your field who is either applying to or beginning a career at MIL?

Don’t be afraid to get your foot in the door with an entry level position, then prove yourself as a team player! Gain knowledge from other areas of the company so that when a position becomes available, managers will already have you in mind, and want you on their team.
